Alghero - Olbia: Stage 1 of Giro d'Italia 2017 in Sardinia
The first stage of the Giro d'Italia 2017 will start Friday, May 5th from the city of Alghero and going along the entire northern coast of Sardinia will arrive in Olbia after a 206 km journey.

Friday, May 5th will begin the Giro d'Italia 2017. The centenary edition of the race will start from the city of Alghero in Sardinia.
The first stage will start at around 12:10 am from Alghero, the ancient and picturesque village of Catalan origin of the Riviera del Corallo. For fans and curious the Village of the Giro will open at 9:30 am. The arrival will be at around 5 pm in Olbia, the Gallura town in front of the imposing island of Tavolara.
In its 206 kms, the race will cross the north coast of Sardinia, going through Sassari, Castelsardo, the Costa Paradiso with Badesi and Trinita d'Agultu, Santa Teresa Gallura, Palau and touching the Costa Smeralda before arriving at Olbia.
The stage will be relatively wavy and undulated, formed by numerous ups and downs and three Grand Prix of the Mountain. The arrival most likely will end in a sprint after a urban route consisted of long straights.
